Job summary

General Dynamics Information Technology is seeking a Software Engineer in Chantilly, VA to design, develop, test, and deploy cloud-based software in mission-critical environments. The role emphasizes OpenSearch/Elasticsearch, data ingestion pipelines, and AWS services with a strong emphasis on scalable architectures.

You will collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and other engineers, applying OO design Principles and modern tooling to deliver robust solutions while maintaining security

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a technical field.
• 2+ years of related software engineering experience.
• Top Secret/SCI with Polygraph security clearance.
• US citizenship required.

Responsibilities

• Develop cloud-based applications and tools; evaluate new tech.
• Design, develop, test, debug, and deploy software to parse data.
• Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, PMs, and engineers.
• Deploy software into an AWS-based data ingest pipeline.
• Write code interacting with data and store in S3 (queried by Athena/OpenSearch).
• Drive OpenSearch architecture, indexing strategies and ownership.
• Troubleshoot issues and support mission areas.
• Maintain documentation and procedures for new software.
• Provide recommendations for continuous improvement.
• Work with team to advance capabilities.
