Job summary

VTG is seeking a Software Engineer in Chantilly, VA to design, develop, and deploy cloud-based software for mission-critical environments. You will work with data ingestion pipelines, OpenSearch or Elasticsearch, and AWS services while collaborating with data scientists, analysts, PMs, and other engineers.

The role requires hands-on development, strong testing discipline, and a passion for innovation and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Hands-on Python development and testing in production environments.
• Experience building APIs and services using REST.
• Experience with OpenSearch or Elasticsearch.
• Experience with AWS services such as EC2, S3, IAM, and VPC.

Responsibilities

• Develop cloud-based applications and tools; evaluate new technologies to improve performance.
• Parse raw data for analysis by developing robust software tools.
• Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, PMs and engineers across teams.
• Deploy software into an AWS-based data ingest pipeline.
• Implement OpenSearch indexing strategies and maintain the data layer.
• Troubleshoot complex issues and document new procedures.
• Drive continuous improvement and advance organizational capabilities.
