Job summary

Amazon Web Services (AWS) in Austin, TX is hiring for a software engineering role focused on OpenSearch control plane development and operations. You will design, implement, and operate components for large-scale distributed systems, ensuring high availability and scalable lifecycle management of OpenSearch clusters across regions.

The team writes in Java, Rust, Python, and Go; you will contribute to cloud-native control plane features, reliability, and performance, while leveraging GenAI tools

Qualifications

• 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
• 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) experience.
• 1+ years of software development engineer or related occupational experience.
• 1+ years of designing and developing large-scale, multi-tiered, multi-threaded, distributed software applications, tools, systems, and services using: C#, C++, Java, or Perl.
• 1+ years of Object Oriented Design experience.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and operate components of a large-scale distributed control plane.
• Look for opportunities to simplify and reduce configuration sprawl.
• Own the systems you build end-to-end and participate in incident response and RCAs.
• Solve real problems in cluster orchestration, capacity provisioning, and lifecycle workflows.
• Use AI coding assistants and GenAI tools across the software development lifecycle.
