Seerist is seeking an Open-Source Investigations Analyst to join the Research & Collections team in a hybrid Reston, VA role. You will verify sources, assess provenance, and evaluate reliability to support the platform’s threat and risk intelligence.

You'll work with cross-functional teams to translate user information needs into research priorities, track misinformation, and help shape product features while maintaining rigorous source coverage and security awareness.

About the Role

Do you enjoy tracing information back to its source, identifying connections, and making sense of incomplete or conflicting evidence?

Seerist is looking for an Open-Source Investigations Analystto join our Research & Collections team. You will investigate and assess the sources that underpin Seerist’s platform, helping our users understand security, operational, and political risks.

Your work will go beyond finding information. You will examine where it comes from, how reliable it is, and how misinformation can affect the picture it presents. You will combine in-depth source research with an understanding of security and geopolitical developments to improve our source coverage and help shape the Seerist platform.

The role combines independent investigation with close collaboration. Working with colleagues across research, product, data science, and commercial teams, you will help translate users’ information needs into research priorities and improvements to the platform.

This is a hybrid role, with three days per week in our office in Reston, Virginia.

Role and Responsibilities

• Discover and assess sources.Identify, investigate, and obtain access to online media sources relevant to Seerist’s users. Evaluate their provenance, reliability, and limitations.
• Investigate misinformation.Analyze misinformation sources and networks, assessing how they operate, and their influence on the information and security environments.
• Track changes in the information landscape. Maintain an understanding of how mainstream and alternative social media platforms areused, andidentifyimplications for our research and collection work.
• Support product development and testing. Work with the wider product and data science teams to inform product development, test new features, and provide feedback on functionality and usability.
• Understand users’ requirements. Engage directly with platform users to translate their information needs into research and collection priorities.
• Support commercial teams.Work with Customer Success and New Business colleagues to explain our source coverage, capabilities, and limitations to customers and prospects.

What We Are Looking For

• Strong knowledge of open-source research and investigative methods, including source discovery, verification, and reliability assessment.
• Proficiency in a language other than English, with Sinitic language skills particularly valued.
• An analytical and inquisitive mindset, with the ability to identify relevant information, connect seemingly unrelated details, and make sound judgments under uncertainty.
• A solid understanding of security and geopolitical issues, including their implications for businesses and operations.
• Technical aptitude and confidence working with large or complex datasets, with the ability to organize information, identify patterns, and learn new digital tools.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with customer-facing experience, and the ability to adapt your style to different audiences.
• A methodical and self-directed approach,,with the ability to manage projects independently, maintain quality, and adapt to changing priorities.
• Strong collaboration skills, working effectively with colleagues across disciplines and professional backgrounds.
