Job summary

AEVEX is seeking an OSINT Analyst to conduct open-source investigations and support government tasking. You will collect, exploit, and analyze online information across multiple networks, design data reports, and brief findings to various consumers.

You will train Marines in OSINT tradecraft and help develop new SOPs while leveraging language skills in Arabic, Farsi, Korean, Mandarin, and Russian to fill information gaps.

Qualifications

  • 1-3 years OSINT experience in Military, Law Enforcement, or Intelligence Community.
  • DLPT 3/3 or better with recent currency or hire date.
  • Proficient language skills and cultural knowledge for OSINT activities.

Responsibilities

  • Populate and maintain databases supporting Data Analysts and DataScientists.
  • Document data types, analyze patterns, and create data reports.
  • Assist OSINT Team in evaluating COTS tools.
  • Use COTS tools to aggregate, structure, visualize and assess open-source information.
  • Develop open-source research strategies and train Marines in OSINT tradecraft.
  • Create OSINT reports and verbally brief findings to users.

Job description

Job Overview

Conduct OSINT activities in response to Government Request for Information (RFI) or tasking by the OIC including working with the Government to clarify and refine the RFI, collecting, exploiting, and analyzing online open-source information, and preparing a report in the format required by the task, with minimal supervision using commercial internet, NIPRNet, SIPRNet and SCINet systems and tools.

Essential Functions
  • Populate and maintain databases in support of and in conjunction with Data Analysts and DataScientists.
  • Document types and structure of open-source data, analyze and mine data to identify patternsand correlations, map and trace data from system to system or source to source, design andcreate data reports.
  • Assist the OSINT Team in using and evaluating available Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS)tools.
  • Employ COTS tools to aggregate, structure, visualize, and assess available open-sourceinformation; infer and assess the relevance, veracity, and credibility of the information and itssource.
  • Employ managed attribution (MA) software and associated online tradecraft while executingOSINT collection activities; demonstrate an understanding of the limitations of MA tools.
  • Develop innovative ways to combine data from different tools to provide analytical results that areof greater value and relevance to Operational Forces.
  • Train and mentor Marines in OSINT tradecraft and best practices, including the ability toadminister MCIA’s Expeditionary OSINT Course.
  • Identify, develop, and formalize new OSINT tradecraft and other SOPs to meet missionrequirement.
  • Leverage language skills and cultural/area knowledge in support of OSINT activities to includeArabic, Farsi and/or Persian, Korean, Mandarin, and Russian.
  • Develops open-source research strategies to support specific information gaps.
  • Manually search for, exploit and analyze a variety of online open sources to include media, socialmedia, academic literature, videos, maps etc. in target language to augment information acquiredthrough other sources and/or to fill information gaps.
  • Use various tools and methods to determine authenticity and currency of information acquiredfrom the Internet.
  • Create reports using Word and PowerPoint to convey research findings; generate Open-SourceIntelligence Reports (OSIRs).
  • Verbally brief findings and research methods to various consumers.
  • Use language skills to conduct searches and translate foreign articles, journals, and other formsof media into English.
  • Participate in meetings, conferences, and exercises.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications and Competencies
  • Proficient language skills and cultural/area knowledge to support of OSINT activities to includeArabic, Farsi and/or Persian, Korean, Mandarin, and Russian, with a DLPT score of 3/3 or better(DLPT score no older than 5 years upon hire date).
Education / Certifications
  • Completed joint-accredited OSINT course. Joint-accredited OSINT courses include but are notlimited to: EOSINT (USMC), OS301 and OS302 (Army), ONI OSINT Fundamentals Course(Navy), Introduction to OSINT (USAF), DIA BOTC (DIA), NGA OSINT Course (NGA), NERD(SOCOM).
  • Commercial alternatives to a joint-accredited OSINT course include but are not limited to:CASO (Black Horse Solutions), and SEC 497 and SEC 587 (SANS Institute).
Experience
  • 1-3 years experience in OSINT to include Military, Law Enforcement, and/or IntelligenceCommunity.

Security Clearance
