Job summary

Temporal Technologies is seeking a Software Engineer II to join the Open Source Server team. You will design, implement, test, and ship features for the Temporal server, tackling distributed systems problems across matching, scheduling, and workflow execution.

You will collaborate with engineers, product managers, cloud teams, and customer-facing teams to deliver scalable, reliable solutions. You will bring production backend experience, strong CS fundamentals, and proficiency in Go or Java,

Qualifications

Production backend/distributed systems experience.
Strong CS fundamentals in concurrency and data structures.
Experience with Go/Java or similar backend languages.
Knowledge of distributed systems concepts: fault tolerance, replication, scheduling.
Ability to break down complex problems and iterate from feedback.

Responsibilities

Design, implement, test, and ship features for the Temporal server.
Tackle distributed systems problems in matching, scheduling, and workflow execution.
Balance performance, operability, and developer experience in solutions.
Collaborate with engineers, product managers, and cloud teams to meet requirements.
Improve reliability with tests, instrumentation, and runbooks.
Participate in design discussions and code reviews to share best practices.
Contribute to open source experience and enterprise customer improvements.
