Job summary

Temporal is seeking a Software Engineer II to join the Open Source Server team. You will design, implement, test, and ship features for the Temporal server and work on distributed systems challenges across a broad area including matching, scheduling, and workflow execution.

You will collaborate with product, cloud, and customer-facing teams to deliver scalable solutions while strengthening reliability, performance, and developer experience for open source users and enterprise customers alike.

Qualifications

• Experience building and operating production backend systems demonstrating distributed systems expertise.
• Strong CS fundamentals including concurrency, data structures, and debugging.
• Production-quality code experience in Go, Java, or another backend language with emphasis on correctness.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, test, and ship well-scoped features for the Temporal server with team support.
• Tackle distributed systems challenges across matching, scheduling, visibility, and workflow lifecycle features.
• Balance performance, operability, and developer experience; make thoughtful tradeoffs.
