SSW emphasizes transformative learning through small classes, experiential opportunities, and faculty mentorship. Its programs focus on developing strong skills, career readiness, and social justice. Faculty expertise includes racism, family violence, immigration, health policy, disparities, aging, behavioral health, substance abuse, child maltreatment, social policy, and social work education innovations.

It is available on campus and online via SocialWork@Simmons, with specialty certificates in areas such as clinical practice with service members, healthcare, trauma, school social work, and public policy.
The PhD in Social Work prepares experienced practitioners for research careers, offered online nationwide. The DSW focuses on inclusive leadership, clinical practice, and teaching, grounded in social justice, preparing clinicians to lead in education and practice.
