POSITION SPECIFICS
The College of Information Sciences and Technology (IST) at Penn State invites applications for an open-rank, teaching faculty position in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) at the University Park campus, State College, PA. This is a non-tenure-line, term appointment starting January or July 2025, with a strong possibility of renewal to a multiyear contract.
The primary responsibility involves teaching undergraduate courses in various modes (residential, online, hybrid), with opportunities to teach graduate courses. Emphasis may include programming in Python or Java, web and mobile development, UX/UI design, prototyping, and interface development. University service is also expected.
Applicants must hold a master's or terminal degree in related fields such as HCI, Interaction Design, UX, Information Science, Computer Science, or Engineering by the start date. Candidates with industry or academic experience in HCI and software development may be considered for higher ranks. Rank will be commensurate with education and experience per Penn State policy.
