The role includes expert consultation, regulatory compliance, and leadership of clinical microbiology and pathology services, along with teaching responsibilities for students and residents.

Qualifications

• MD or DO with CP or AP/CP training and ABPath certification or eligibility.
• GA state licensure required; credentialed to practice at Wellstar MCG Health Medical Center.
• Subspecialty interest with fellowship training or experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-level diagnostic expertise and expert consultation in a subspecialty (e.g., Transfusion Medicine, Hematopathology, Microbiology).
• Oversee clinical laboratory operations and ensure CAP/CLIA/The Joint Commission compliance.
• Advise on test selection, result interpretation, and patient management with clinical teams.
• Integrate emerging technologies into clinical laboratory workflows and enhance patient care.
• Teach and mentor medical students, pathology residents, and fellows; contribute to curriculum and rounds.
