Job summary

USA Rare Earth, Inc. in Sierra Blanca, Texas seeks a Supervisor, Mining & Earth Moving to lead open-pit mining operations during the Early Works phase. You will oversee site personnel and contractors, delivering production, safety, and cost targets with a focus on MSHA compliance and cost per tonne control.

The role requires coordinating with the HSE team, managing shifts, and ensuring equipment availability while maintaining documentation for audits. A 24/7 rotation is possible.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in open-pit mining or large-scale earthmoving operations.
• Experience supervising personnel and contractors.
• Experience operating bulldozers, excavators, haul trucks and related equipment.
• MSHA certification preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office for reporting and tracking.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and manage contractor performance against production targets, excavation quality, and schedule compliance.
• Supervise site personnel and contractors in daily excavation, haulage, and face preparation activities.
• Conduct pre-shift meetings and provide clear shift handovers with priorities and hazards.
• Track daily production against the mine plan and report deviations.
• Monitor costs and schedule progress against budget and plan, identify variances, implement corrective actions.
• Manage OpEx per tonne and identify reduction opportunities without compromising safety or production.
• Coordinate with engineering on field changes and geotechnical conditions.
• Verify progress with weekly volumetric reports for contractor payments.
• Ensure MSHA compliance and maintain audit-ready documentation.
• Coordinate with HSE to maintain a safe work environment.
• Participate in incident investigations and implement preventive actions.
• Identify continuous improvement opportunities to increase productivity and reduce costs.
• Ensure equipment availability and coordinate with maintenance.
• Document incidents, inspections, and production progress.
