Job summary

Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah, GA is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for Open Heart perioperative care. You will evaluate patients before surgery, educate families about procedures, prepare patients with IV therapy and medications, and participate in site verification and safety protocols.

You will collaborate with surgeons, nurses, and technologists to deliver high-quality, evidence-based care, monitor patient status, and document changes throughout shifts.

Qualifications

• Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
• RN licensed to practice nursing
• Associate Degree, or Bachelors Degree, or Registered Nurse Diploma required

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients prior to surgery.
• Provide patient and family education surrounding the procedure and peri-operative process.
• Assume responsibility for patient preparation, including intravenous therapy and preoperative medications.
• Participate in surgical site verification and universal protocols per hospital policy.
• Recognize and respond to patient emergencies.
• Deliver high-quality, patient-centered care while applying evidence-based practices and continuous improvement.
• Work as part of a dynamic interdisciplinary team with providers, surgeons and surgical staff.
• Apply the nursing process with critical thinking and leadership to deliver safe care.
• Assess patient condition, monitor during shift and document changes.
• Educate patients and families about medical condition, treatment and follow-up measures
