Job summary

UMass Amherst is seeking an Open Education Librarian to lead, develop, and advance open educational resources, tools, and practices across the Libraries and campus. The role partners with faculty, graduate students, and library colleagues to create affordable, high-impact course materials.

Housed in Data Digital Strategy & Scholarly Communication, the librarian will guide OER initiatives, evaluate platforms, and coordinate events.

Qualifications

  • Graduate degree in librarianship or related field by time of hire.
  • 2+ years in an academic library for Librarian II or 5+ years for Librarian III.
  • Experience delivering library instruction and outreach in an academic library setting.
  • Commitment to user-centered service to students and faculty in an academic institution.

Responsibilities

  • Provides expertise for creating, adapting, and adopting open educational resources (OER).
  • Leads Libraries' open education initiatives and related programs.
  • Collaborates with campus partners to implement and maintain OER platforms and tools.
  • Oversees planning, delivery, and evaluation of open education events and workshops.
  • Represents Libraries at university events and serve on committees.
  • Participates in professional development and scholarly activities.
