Job summary

Systems Planning and Analysis, Inc. (SPA) in the Alexandria/Mark Center area seeks a Sr. Technical Writer to provide onsite support. You will craft speeches, briefs, and multimedia materials for senior DoD leaders, using MS Office to deliver clear, compelling messages across formats.

You will distill complex topics into plain-English narratives, coordinate with executives, and manage content from research to final production under tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, Communications, or a related field.
• 7+ years of experience in communications, public affairs, or journalism including high-tempo, senior-level DoD or Service Headquarters environments.
• Demonstrated proficiency in MS Office, especially expert-level PowerPoint presentation design, document formatting, and multimedia integration.
• Proven ability to write clearly, concisely, and compellingly for senior leaders; ability to manage multiple projects independently and prioritize effectively.
• Experience developing and executing social media communication strategies.
• Ability to communicate complex technical topics in plain English tailored to multiple audiences.
• Strong organizational skills, critical thinking, and attention to detail; ability to meet deadlines.
• Active TS/SCI clearance.
• Able to work fully onsite.

Responsibilities

• Develop clear, compelling, and visually engaging communication products for senior-level audiences.
• Produce speeches, presentations, reports, and multimedia content across formats.
• Design and deliver senior-level briefings and data-driven presentations using MS Office.
• Distill complex technical topics into plain-English narratives for diverse audiences.
• Collaborate with clients and officials to refine messaging and plan strategies.
• Lead creation of multimedia products with graphics and video elements.
• Coordinate content development from research through final production.
