Job summary

Northrop Grumman in San Diego, CA, is seeking a Manager Structural Engineering 1 to lead the MEP Team within the Space Sector. This onsite role focuses on structural analysis of metallic and composite structures, FE models, and program execution.

You will collaborate with design teams, manage resources, review performance, and ensure technical compliance across programs, with opportunities for growth and a competitive total rewards package.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in STEM and 5+ years in an engineering environment.
• Experience leading an engineering team on structural analysis efforts.
• Space/aerospace structural analysis of composite structures including bonded joints.
• Experience with FEA, composite laminate theory, and dynamic analysis.
• Experience with product definition (specs, SOWs, drawings) and verification processes.

Responsibilities

• Provide analysis authority for value streams, including materials, dynamics, and static analyses.
• Manage resources with the analysis manager; oversee hiring, development and performance reviews.
• Own program performance; manage SQDEC daily and escalate issues as needed.
• Lead peer reviews and track FPY and on-time delivery.
• Ensure technical compliance and risk management across programs.
• Coordinate static/dynamic test plans with the tool design group.
