Job summary

PangeaTwo in Birmingham, AL seeks a Staff Accountant to support daily accounting operations and maintain accurate financial records. This full-time, primarily onsite role works with accounting leadership on transactional accounting, reporting, reconciliations, and core processes.

You will perform month-end close tasks, generate journal entries, reconcile balance sheets, assist with cash management, accounts payable/receivable, and support external audits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field.
• Approximately 1–3 years of accounting experience.
• Advanced capability with Microsoft Excel and spreadsheet-based analysis.
• Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work cooperatively with colleagues across multiple departments.
• High level of accuracy, reliability, and accountability.

Responsibilities

• Compile and assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting activities.
• Contribute to month-end and year-end closing procedures, including variance review.
• Generate and record journal entries while maintaining accurate general ledger activity.
• Reconcile balance sheet accounts and investigate discrepancies.
• Support cash management, banking coordination, and treasury functions.
• Process, monitor, and assist with accounts receivable, accounts payable, billing, and cash applications.
• Provide schedules and documentation for external audit requests and compliance reviews.
• Create financial analyses and ad hoc reports for management.
• Partner with departmental stakeholders to resolve account questions.
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting workflows and controls.
