Job summary

ECC is seeking a Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO) for the Portland Tank Repairs project. This dual-hatted role with the Site Superintendent will implement and oversee the project safety program to ensure OSHA, EM 385-1-1, and contract compliance across all construction phases.

You will lead the Site Safety and Health Plan, conduct inspections, mentor crew, and coordinate with management and subcontractors to mitigate hazards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Science, Construction Management or related field.
• Minimum one year of full-time onsite SSHO experience.
• OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety Course completed within five years of award.
• Knowledge of construction safety practices and hazard recognition.

Responsibilities

• Implement and maintain the SSHP for the project.
• Monitor daily construction activities for safety compliance.
• Conduct daily safety inspections and document findings.
• Identify, communicate, and track corrective actions for safety deficiencies.
• Lead safety meetings, toolbox talks, and safety training activities.
• Coordinate with project management and subcontractors to address safety concerns.
• Maintain safety documentation, reports, logs, and records.
• Investigate incidents, near misses, and safety observations and recommend corrective measures.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA, EM 385-1-1, and project requirements.
• Stop work when unsafe conditions or practices are identified.
• Participate in client meetings, inspections, and safety audits.
• Support project teams in maintaining a proactive safety culture.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
