Job summary

Millennium Space Systems seeks a Spacecraft Harness Engineer (Level 2/3) to design and analyze EWIS architecture for multiple mission buses. You will create wiring diagrams, define signal connectivity with cross-functional teams, and select harness components to meet strict spaceflight standards.

This role is onsite in El Segundo, CA. The position requires a engineering degree and hands-on experience with harness or PCB design, plus strong collaboration and documentation skills; DoD clearance

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in engineering, computer science, mathematics or physics.
• 1+ year of experience in wire harness design, wire harness installation or equipment installation.
• Experience with communication, collaboration and interpersonal skills.
• Experience interfacing with all engineering disciplines and team work.
• Experience with engineering release processes and document moderation.

Responsibilities

• Development & analysis of EWIS architectures for multiple programs and bus configurations.
• Generation of subsystem or unit-to-unit electrical block diagrams.
• Definition and documentation of signal connectivity through cross functional coordination with system, subsystem, and product engineers for spacecraft harness or printed wiring board design.
• Selection of harness components and hardware, such as connectors, backshells, and wire/cable based on mission requirements and standards.
• Performance of voltage drop analysis, power current derating, and capacitance analysis for harness and PCB.
• Development and analysis of PCB designs: board form factor, schematic capture, board stack, placement and routing.
• Generation of rigid or rigid-flex PCB, PCB Assembly Drawings and output files (Gerber, ODB++, etc.).
• Generation harness schematic diagrams, wire diagrams, and harness assembly drawings.
• Preparation and generation of harness acceptance testing procedures including harness test scripts.
• Participation in design reviews and milestone activities with data package prep and issue resolution.
• Support assembly and testing of harnesses and reporting on cost/schedule performance.
• Capture as-built harness details for 2D/3D formboards.
• Support creation, maintenance or update of harness design, assembly and test standards.
