Job summary

Charles Schwab Corporation is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the Capacity Planning team within OCTO. The role focuses on end-to-end capacity and scalability assessment for key business transactions and platforms, with emphasis on data engineering, incidents, and metrics.

You will translate leadership needs into technical requirements for AI-assisted development and contribute to system health and reliability across hybrid environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• 7+ years in application hosting/development, architecture, and design in highly regulated industries.
• 7+ years Python data science stack or Java development experience.
• 7+ years experience with SQL databases (Oracle, PostgreSQL).
• 5+ years in BI, analytics and visualization tools such as Power BI.
• 5+ years in monitoring/alerting tools (Grafana) and automation to reduce manual tasks.
• 3+ years influencing at all organizational levels and leading decisions.
• 3+ years cloud-native design including event-driven apps and API performance tuning.
• 2+ years shaping architecture through governance principles.

Responsibilities

• Lead capacity planning and scalability assessments for Key Business Transactions.
• Perform root cause and business impact analysis for incidents related to capacity.
• Cover application health assessments for at-risk areas and monitor key metrics.
• Gather leadership asks and translate to technical requirements for AI-assisted tooling.
