Job summary

Charles Schwab is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the Capacity Planning team within OCTO. You will build and maintain capacity planning solutions, assess end-to-end capacity for KBTs and platforms, and perform root-cause analyses for incidents affecting capacity and scalability.

You will monitor metrics, provide insights, and collaborate with leadership to translate requirements into AI-assisted development specifications.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• 7+ years in application hosting/development, architecture, and design in regulated industries.
• 7+ years experience with Python data stack or Java development stack.
• 7+ years demonstrated database principles (SQL, Oracle, PostgreSQL).
• 5+ years experience with BI/analytics/visualization tools (Power BI).
• 5+ years experience with monitoring/alerting tools (Grafana) and automation.
• 5+ years experience with incident/root-cause analysis for capacity/scalability.
• 3+ years influencing decisions across all organizational levels.
• 3+ years cloud-native design experience.
• 2+ years curating architectural principles and governance.

Responsibilities

• Own capacity planning solutions within OCTO’s Application Architecture group.
• Perform end-to-end capacity and scalability assessments for KBTs and platforms.
• Conduct root-cause and business impact analyses for capacity incidents.
• Monitor metrics, deliver insights, and drive action on capacity health.
• Serve as technical business analyst translating leadership asks to technical requirements for AI-assisted development.
