Job summary

CAI is seeking a Senior Mainframe Developer / COBOL Senior Consultant for an on-site role in Trenton, NJ. The ideal candidate will have advanced COBOL, strong JCL and NATURAL skills, and deep experience with ADABAS and legacy mainframe systems.

The position involves evaluating existing systems, implementing changes, and collaborating with ITS and development teams to deliver reliable batch and online mainframe solutions. This is a full-time contract role.

Qualifications

• Advanced COBOL programming experience in enterprise mainframe environments.
• Strong JCL hands-on and job scheduling expertise.
• Extensive NATURAL programming experience.
• Experience with ADABAS database architecture and file structures.
• Ability to analyze large legacy mainframe codebases and troubleshoot.

Responsibilities

• Participate in development efforts on legacy mainframe applications.
• Analyze systems, design and implement COBOL/NATURAL programs and JCL jobs.
• Triage production issues and perform root-cause analysis.
• Collaborate with ITS and development teams on integration and testing.
• Produce technical documentation and system architecture artifacts.
