Job summary

Amtex Enterprises Inc seeks a Senior Mainframe Developer / COBOL Senior Consultant for an onsite assignment in Trenton, NJ. The contract runs 5+ months and offers competitive hourly rates ($60-70/hr W2, $70-80/hr C2C/1099).

You'll work on legacy mainframe applications, COBOL, NATURAL, ADABAS, JCL, and contribute to design, development, maintenance, and testing, coordinating with ITS teams to deliver reliable batch and online processing.

Qualifications

Advanced COBOL programming in enterprise mainframe environments.
Strong JCL development and job scheduling experience.
Extensive NATURAL programming experience.
Knowledge of ADABAS database architecture and files.
Experience maintaining large legacy mainframe codebases.
Proven debugging and troubleshooting for batch and online apps.
Ability to work with multiple technical teams and document work.
Experience with system integration and data interfaces.

Responsibilities

Participate in development efforts supporting legacy mainframe applications.
Analyze existing legacy systems and provide code walkthroughs, logic analysis, and technical documentation.
Design, develop, modify, test, and maintain COBOL and NATURAL programs and related JCL jobs.
Perform ongoing maintenance and enhancements to batch and online mainframe applications.
Troubleshoot production issues, job failures, and system abends with root cause analysis.
Produce and maintain technical documentation including program specs and data definitions.
Support system testing, integration testing, and UAT.
Assist with performance tuning and optimization of batch jobs and database access.
