Job summary

Johnson Controls seeks an on-site Project Manager for Security projects in the Columbus, Ohio market. You will oversee field activities from mobilization to closeout, coordinating with customers, subcontractors, and the Major Projects team to deliver on time, within scope and budget.

The role requires 6–18 months of deployment, strong coordination and communication skills, and willingness to travel up to 100% based on assignment. Proficiency in MS Office, Adobe Writer, and Visio is expected.

Qualifications

• Required university degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Minimum of 6 years of related project management, construction supervision, or field leadership experience.
• Prior experience managing medium‑complexity projects within Security, low‑voltage, life safety, or related construction environment.
• Strong coordination skills with the ability to supervise multiple on‑site activities simultaneously.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
• Willingness to deploy for extended periods (typically 6 to 18 months) and travel up to 100% based on project assignment.
• Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), Adobe Writer, Visio, and Windows‑based applications.
• Experience supporting or leading project scopes of $1M or greater.
• Must hold or be able to obtain required State Certifications for Security Alarm Systems.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the on-site project manager for assigned Security projects and support execution from planning through closeout.
• Coordinate daily with the Project Manager, customer, subcontractors, and other site contractors to keep work aligned and moving forward.
• Perform daily site inspections to verify quality, safety compliance, project integrity, and customer satisfaction.
• Oversee on-site work to ensure compliance with Johnson Controls standards, policies, and contractual obligations.
• Prepare and submit progress updates and field reports for inclusion in the master project schedule, including variance analysis when needed.
• Resolve site conflicts related to work sequencing, labor coordination, access, and unforeseen field conditions.
• Support risk management activities and assist with recovery plans when schedule or scope challenges arise.
• Maintain accurate project documentation and controls in accordance with contract requirements and Johnson Controls processes.
• Communicate expectations clearly to subcontractors and help maintain adequate staffing levels to support the schedule.
