Job summary

Principal Global Investors in Des Moines, IA is seeking a Safety & Security Specialist to provide day-to-day security for Home Office employees. You will patrol the corporate complex, monitor alarms and access points, and respond to incidents.

The role requires strong customer service, clear communication, and the ability to work 8-10 hour shifts onsite. CPR/AED certification and confidentiality are essential, with rotating schedules and collaboration with local authorities as needed.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of security or customer-related experience or equivalent demonstrated through work experience, training, military experience, education.
• Good customer service and oral and written communication skills required.
• Have good planning/organizational and time management skills.
• Knowledge of or ability to attain knowledge of various emergency and security related equipment/systems required.
• Ability to prioritize efficiently with little supervision, think and act quickly and calmly in emergency situations and exercise good judgment.
• Able to be certified in CPR, AED and basic first aid.
• Ability to rotate between walking, standing, and sitting for 8-10 hours per shift.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality is essential.

Responsibilities

• Detailed patrol of the corporate complex to ensure a safe and secure operating environment; inspect alarms, security doors, CCTV, and related systems; report and assist in resolving hazards.
• Staff security posts, monitor entrances, respond to alarm events, and perform reception duties as needed.
• Conduct interviews to obtain complete information on incidents involving employees or property; liaise with police and fire officials.
• Maintain security/safety records and prepare reports via online incident forms.
• Provide emergency escort services and assess emergencies; participate in conflict resolution to prevent escalation.
• Act as an emergency response team member; provide first aid, CPR and AED as needed.
• Perform other job-related duties and special projects as required.
