Job summary

Principal Financial Group in Des Moines, IA is seeking a Safety & Security Specialist to provide day-to-day protection for our Home Office employees. You will patrol the corporate complex, monitor alarms and access points, and respond to incidents to keep people and property safe.

This role requires 2+ years in security or customer-related work, strong communication, and the ability to act calmly in emergencies. The position is fully onsite at our Des Moines headquarters with a rotating schedule.

Qualifications

• 2+ years in security or related customer service experience.
• Excellent customer service and clear written and verbal communication.
• Strong planning, organizational and time-management skills.
• Familiarity with emergency and security systems; able to learn quickly.
• Ability to stay calm in emergencies and exercise sound judgment.
• CPR, AED certification or ability to obtain certification.
• Able to sit/stand/walk for 8-10 hours; maintain confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Perform detailed patrols of the corporate complex to ensure a safe environment and verify alarms, doors, CCTV systems.
• Provide visitor assistance and enforce proper access control across campus.
• Investigate incidents involving employees or property and coordinate with police and fire officials as needed.
• Maintain security records and generate incident reports.
• Act as emergency response team member, provide first aid, CPR, and AED as required.
• Support other security duties and special projects as assigned.
