Job summary

Pave Talent and our client are seeking a hands-on Controller to run day-to-day accounting in San Diego. You will own the close, payroll, and reporting while leading four direct reports across accounting, payroll, AR and AP.

The role requires 8+ years in accounting, a BA/BS in accounting or finance, multi-state payroll experience, and active ownership of the close. On-site five days a week in San Diego with a base of $150k–$170k and up to 10% bonus.

Qualifications

• Eight or more years in accounting with hands-on responsibility as Controller or Assistant Controller.
• Own the close, general ledger and reconciliations with direct ownership.
• Experience in a services business where payroll is a major cost.
• Experience leading or supporting an ERP implementation.

Responsibilities

• The monthly, quarterly and year-end close, the general ledger, reconciliations and financial statements.
• Payroll accounting and controls across multiple entities and states.
• Oversight of Billing, AR and AP with accurate invoicing checks.
• Cash management, banking relationships and line of credit.
• Budgets and budget-to-actual reporting for leadership.
• Lead audits or reviews, tax coordination, and 401(k) administration.
• Contribute to ongoing systems upgrade and lead four direct reports in accounting, payroll, AR and AP.
