Job summary

Turner Industries is seeking a Safety Technician to support an upcoming turnaround in Pasadena, TX. This role involves assisting in the administration and supervision of project safety, performing regular inspections, and coordinating with training programs to mitigate hazards.

Candidates should have technical safety training or experience, OSHA/OSHA-compliant gear, and NCCER Certification or a Safety degree. Local candidate preferred, with a valid driver license; no per diem.

Qualifications

• Technical training and/or industrial related safety experience.
• Post-offer drug/alcohol screen and physical evaluation
• Hazard communication orientation/test

• OSHA approved protective eyewear (Z87)
• Job site orientation
• Job site safety requirements (clean shaven, long sleeves, steel toe boots)
• Safety equipment as required by the client (hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, respirator, hearing protection, safety harness with lanyard)

Responsibilities

• Assists in the administration and overall supervision of project safety and accident and fire protection programs to maintain a safe and healthy work environment.
• Conducts regular walk through inspections of construction areas; identifies, documents and recommends resolutions of hazardous or potentially hazardous conditions and follows through to ensure that corrections have been made; documents and investigates all accidents, safety violations and other unsafe conditions or activities; compiles data, photographs, etc. and prepares all pertinent forms and reports according to corporate procedures and federal, state and local regulations associated with accidents; issues various entry permits (i.e. to confined spaces) as required; assists in emergency rescues as required; assists in maintaining fire protection and grounding systems; assists in controlling hazardous working conditions and unsafe employee activities through interfacing with training programs.
• May be required to do the following: climbing ladders, scaffolds, structures, etc. above and below ground level; maintaining balance on ladders, scaffolds, structures, etc.; reaching in all directions, handling and manipulating objects and materials; coordinating the movements of eyes, hands and fingers to operate tools and equipment; lifting from ground level, waist level, and/or overhead; carrying objects, tools, equipment, etc.; standing; walking; pushing; bending; kneeling; crouching/squatting; seeing with or without correction; hearing with or without correction.
• May be required to do the following; following set procedures and standards; applying basic mathematical skills; following oral/or written directions; knowledge of federal, state and corporate safety standards and regulations; reading; writing; ability to recognize and report safety hazards etc.; standing; walking; pushing; bending; kneeling; crouching/squatting; seeing with or without correction; hearing with or without correction.
