Job summary

Turner Industries is seeking a Safety Technician to support a forthcoming turnaround in Pasadena, TX. The role focuses on assisting in the administration and supervision of safety programs, inspecting construction areas for hazards, and assisting in emergency responses.

Must have a valid driver’s license and NCCER Certification or a Safety degree. Local candidates preferred; no per diem. The job involves field and site work in industrial environments with strict safety requirements.

Qualifications

• Technical training and/or industrial related safety experience.
• Post-offer drug/alcohol screen and physical evaluation.
• Hazard Communication orientation/test.
• Turner Industries Group, LLC indoctrination.
• OSHA approved corrective eye wear (Z87).
• Job site orientation.
• Job site safety requirements (clean shaven, long sleeves, steel toe boots, etc.).
• Safety equipment as required by the client (hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, respirator, hearing protection, safety harness with lanyard, etc.).
• Applicant/employee must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of such individual or others at the work place.

Responsibilities

• Conducts regular walk through inspections of construction areas; identifies, documents and recommends resolutions of hazardous or potentially hazardous conditions and follows through to ensure that corrections have been made; documents and investigates all accidents, safety violations and other unsafe conditions or activities; compiles data, photographs, etc. and prepares all pertinent forms and reports according to corporate procedures and federal, state and local regulations associated with accidents; issues various entry permits (i.e. to confined spaces) as required; assists in emergency rescues as required; assists in maintaining fire protection and grounding systems; assists in controlling hazardous working conditions and unsafe employee activities through interfacing with training programs.
