Job summary

General Motors is seeking a Workplace Safety Group - Safety Operations professional to ensure a safe and healthy work environment across facilities. The role emphasizes developing and maintaining safety programs and providing expert guidance to management and staff.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety or related discipline and 4+ years of EHS experience, with strong OSHA/NFPA knowledge and CSP/CIH certification as a plus.

Qualifications

• Requires a Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or related field.
• 4+ years of Environmental, Health, and Safety experience.
• Experience in developing, implementing, and managing safety programs.
• Strong knowledge of OSHA and NFPA regulations.
• Ability to conduct incident investigations and root cause analyses.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to collaborate with diverse teams.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Professional safety certification (CSP/CIH) is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive safety programs and procedures.
• Conduct safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments.
• Investigate workplace incidents and root causes, and implement corrective actions.
• Provide expert guidance to management and employees on safety topics.
• Develop and deliver safety training programs for all employees.
• Collaborate with engineering, production, and other departments to integrate safety.
• Monitor safety performance metrics and identify improvement trends.
• Prepare detailed records and reports related to safety incidents and training.
• Stay current with industry best practices and regulatory changes.
