Job summary

General Motors is seeking a Workplace Safety Group - Safety Operations professional to ensure a safe and healthy work environment across facilities. You will develop and maintain safety programs, conduct audits, and partner with production and engineering to integrate safety into new projects.

The role requires 5+ years in EHS, OSHA/NFPA knowledge, and strong communication skills. Onsite work in Indiana with potential relocation benefits is offered.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene or a related discipline.
• 5+ years of relevant experience in Environmental, Health, and Safety.
• Proven experience in developing, implementing, and managing comprehensive safety programs.
• Strong understanding of OSHA and NFPA regulations.
• Ability to conduct thorough incident investigations and root cause analyses.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Professional safety certification (e.g., CSP, CIH) is a significant advantage.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive occupational safety and health programs and procedures.
• Conduct regular safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments for compliance.
• Investigate workplace incidents to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
• Provide guidance and support to management and employees on safety topics.
• Develop and deliver safety training programs for employees at all levels.
• Collaborate with engineering, production, and other departments to integrate safety into projects.
• Monitor safety performance metrics, identify trends, and recommend improvements.
• Prepare and maintain records and reports related to safety incidents and training.
• Stay current with industry best practices and regulatory changes.
