Job summary

Cherokee Millwright, Inc. is seeking a Field Safety Supervisor to monitor safety and health regulations and provide technical support to plant and personnel, ensuring compliance with federal and state requirements.

The role works across departments to implement safety programs and training, and reports to Safety Manager in a collaborative team environment. The ideal candidate holds a bachelor’s degree in safety science or engineering and has at least five years of safety coordination experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a safety science, engineering or equivalent.
• At least five years of previous experience in safety coordinator position or higher.

Responsibilities

• Works closely with staff in project management, human resources, legal, operations, and research and development.
• Provides technical safety and health support and information to field personnel and corporate personnel.
• Enforces safety and health programs and policies.
• Identifies company safety training needs and develops and coordinates safety training programs.
• Participates in new product/process reviews, including process hazard analyses, operator training, etc.
• Supports corporate/Project Management to implement engineering controls to minimize safety and occupational health hazards.
• Supports field personnel in selection of appropriate personal protective equipment.
• Maintains corporate safety library (e.g., videos, regulations, reference manuals).
• Promotes safety and health awareness through internal company memoranda, newsletters and specific training programs.
• Serves as member of the executive environmental health and safety committee.
• Participates in company occupational safety and health committee.
• Assists as necessary in implementation of a hazard communication program and preparation of reports.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in a safety science, engineering or equivalent

At least five years of previous experience in safety coordinator position or higher
