Job summary

SOSi is seeking a Russian/Ukrainian Linguist – Translation/Interpretationfor work in Northern Virginia. The role involves supporting a client team with translation, transcription, and interpretation, and requires accurate, culturally nuanced language work.

The ideal candidate will have native or near-native Russian/Ukrainian skills, excellent English communication, and the ability to travel up to 20% while using SharePoint and Microsoft Office.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree required.
• Native or near-native Russian/Ukrainian (ILR 5).
• Excellent English written and verbal communication; exams required during application.
• Experience in translation, transcription, and interpretation.
• Proficient with SharePoint and Microsoft Office; ability to learn new tools.

Responsibilities

• Read, write, and speak Russian/Ukrainian at fluent/native level.
• Translate and summarize materials into clear, idiomatic English.
• Review websites and produce analytic reports; may populate spreadsheets.
• Summarize content while preserving linguistic nuances per client guide.
• Leverage knowledge of politics, military, security, and culture for high‑quality translations.
• Use MS Office and SharePoint; learn additional tools as needed.
• Provide interpretation services (simultaneous or consecutive) when required.
• Travel up to 20%.
