Job summary

Buckner Retirement Services, Parkway Place in Houston, TX, is seeking a Culinary Server for an on-site role. The position supports dining services, meal preparation, beverage service, and cleanliness to meet Buckner standards of hospitality for residents.

Qualifications

• Ability to read, write and understand business documents which are written in English.
• Age 21 with a valid driver’s license and clean driving record to be insured on Buckner insurance and provide transportation of meals within the Campus.
• Ability to communicate verbally with residents, families, visitors and co-workers. Ability to make oneself clearly understood by others.
• Ability to understand and follow basic written and oral step-by-step instructions.
• Ability to move food serving and preparation equipment up to 50 pounds occasionally, up to 20 pounds frequently, and up to 10 pounds continuously.
• Depth perception and peripheral vision are important for the role.
• Ability to turn, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, push, pull, handle, stand, and walk for most of the shift (75%).
• Ability to safely use kitchen equipment and recognize operational or safety issues from equipment sounds.
• Ability to work under close supervision performing routine, standardized tasks.
• Ability to cooperate and work with other employees in resident-centered care environment.

Responsibilities

• Set tables; bus tables, wash off tables after meals.
• Prepare beverages and food as required.
• Serve food in dining rooms or other areas as required.
• Serve beverages to residents as required.
• Blend food in an electric blender; prepare steam table.
• Prepare hot carts and serve food; clean and sanitize carts.
• Wash dishes; scrape and rack dishes; sort, stack, and store clean dishes.
• Mop, sweep, and clean work area.
• Take out trash.
• Wrap silverware.
