Job summary

Ivory Plains Recovery Center in Adair, Iowa is seeking a Counselor One - Recovery to provide treatment and support to clients in their recovery from addictions and related disorders. The role includes conducting assessments, planning and monitoring care, and delivering group or individual counseling.

The position requires a bachelor’s degree in social services, addiction, or a related field, plus licensure or certification as a social worker or counselor.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in social services, addiction, mental health or closely related field.
• Professional experience is not required, but experience in counseling field instruction/internship or practicum is preferred.
• Must have current and valid licensure or certification as a social worker, professional counselor, therapist or addiction counselor.
• CPR certification and de-escalation training required (training provided upon hire). First aid may be required per state/facility.

Responsibilities

• Conducts client assessments focused on identifying history, presentation, problem areas, treatment needs, and risk.
• Performs ongoing assessments of services required by the treatment program.
• Participates in and documents treatment planning and progress reviews.
• Conducts group, individual or family sessions and applies evidence-based modalities.
• Provides client and family education on substance abuse and psychiatric issues.
• Ensures timely, clear documentation of client care and incidents.
• Provides crisis intervention and seeks consultation when needed.
• Plans and documents aftercare for assigned clients.
• Acts as liaison with insurance carriers as requested.
• Provides case management and ensures quality, individualized care.
• Conducts educational workshops in hospital and community settings.
• Liaises with self-help groups and EAP professionals.
