Job summary

Ivory Plains Recovery Center in Adair, Iowa, is hiring Counselor One to provide treatment and support for clients in recovery from addictions and related conditions. The role includes assessments, treatment planning, and delivering group, individual, and family sessions with evidence-based modalities.

The position emphasizes crisis intervention, thorough documentation, liaison with insurers, and aftercare planning.

Qualifications

• Requires a bachelor’s degree in social services, addiction, mental health or closely related field.
• Must have current licensure or certification as social worker, professional counselor, therapist or addiction counselor per state agency.
• CPR certification and de-escalation training required (training available upon hire and offered by facility). First aid may be required based on state or facility.

Responsibilities

• Conducts client assessments focused on identifying client history, current presentation and treatment needs.
• Participates in treatment planning and progress reviews and documents as required.
• Conduces group counseling, individual or family sessions with evidence-based modalities and documents accordingly.
• Provides client and family education related to substance abuse and psychiatric problems.
• Ensures timely, clear documentation of client care, incidents and treatment.
• Provides crisis intervention and seeks consultation as appropriate.
• Plans for and completes documentation of aftercare for assigned clients.
• Acts as liaison with insurance carriers and performs case management duties.
• Conducts educational workshops within hospital and community, and liaises with self-help groups and EAP professionals.
