Job summary

Piper Companies is seeking a Senior Research Associate, Protein Expression & Purification for a 6-12 month onsite contract in Cambridge, MA. The role focuses on generating and purifying recombinant proteins for research programs and collaborating with lab teams to ensure timely project outputs.

Qualifications include a Bachelor's or Master’s in Biochemistry or related field and 2-5 years of hands-on protein expression/purification experience, with expertise in ÄKTA/FPLC systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, Protein Sciences, or a related scientific field.
• 2-5 years of hands-on experience in protein expression, purification, or related laboratory research environments.
• Demonstrated expertise working with chromatography systems such as ÄKTA or FPLC.
• Experience recovering and purifying proteins from inclusion bodies and performing basic protein analysis.
• Strong organizational, communication, and documentation skills with the ability to independently execute established laboratory procedures.

Responsibilities

• Conduct recombinant protein production and purification activities using chromatography-based workflows and related laboratory equipment.
• Isolate, recover, and refine proteins from a variety of expression systems, including challenging protein formats.
• Utilize ÄKTA, FPLC, or comparable purification platforms to support research and development objectives.
• Maintain detailed experimental records and accurately document findings within electronic laboratory systems.
• Partner with scientists and cross-functional research teams to deliver protein materials and support program milestones.
