Job summary

UChicago Medicine in Orland Park, IL seeks a PRN Special Procedures Nurse (RN) to support the Infusion Therapy team on a 100% onsite basis. Based in the greater Chicagoland area, you will perform high-risk nursing duties including sedation, IV infusions, and complex procedures under physician supervision.

The role may involve Charge Nurse responsibilities as assigned. The position requires RN licensure, with BSN preferred and at least 5 years of clinical nursing experience.

Qualifications

• RN required; BSN preferred; 5+ years clinical nursing experience.

Responsibilities

• Provides technically complex and high-risk nursing care, including sedation, IV infusions, and complex procedures (e.g., lumbar puncture, cardiac catheterization).
• Performs required patient assessments, documentation, and interpretations with sound clinical judgment for timely physician intervention.
• Maintains nursing equipment and work areas, ensuring safety, cleanliness and inventory control for supplies and equipment.
• Collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to support patient and family needs, including age-specific considerations.
• Demonstrates AIDET principles when interacting with patients and families and maintains professional communication with staff.
• Rotates to clinical areas as directed to support safe staffing ratios and patient transport for sedated patients.
