Job summary

AMG, Inc. seeks an experienced Onsite Project Manager to lead industrial engineering and plant projects at a major corn wet milling facility in Argo, Illinois.

You will work directly with the client's staff, onsite contractors, and AMG's engineering team to coordinate diverse projects from scope to completion. The ideal candidate has 5+ years of plant project experience, strong knowledge of mechanical equipment and piping, and the ability to manage budgets, schedules, and stakeholder

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years managing or coordinating engineering, construction, capital-improvement, or equipment-related projects.
• Experience onsite at an operating chemical or process facility.
• Practical understanding of industrial equipment, process piping, plant construction, and contractor coordination.
• Ability to read, interpret, and understand engineering drawings, blueprints, CAD drawings, specifications, and related technical documents.
• Experience managing project budgets, schedules, scopes, proposals, and project status reporting.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize competing demands while managing multiple projects.

Responsibilities

• Manage multiple industrial plant projects ranging in value from approximately $5,000 to $10 million or more, including equipment upgrades, piping modifications, plant improvements, and capital projects.
• Develop project scopes, budgets, schedules, resource plans, and execution strategies in coordination with the client and AMG’s engineering team.
• Monitor project costs, commitments, expenditures, and forecasted costs to maintain budgetary control and identify potential variances.
• Track project milestones, deliverables, and critical-path activities to help ensure timely completion.
• Prepare project proposals, cost estimates, and supporting documentation for client review and approval.
• Identify project challenges early and coordinate practical solutions to minimize delays, cost overruns, and disruptions to plant operations.
• Serve as the primary day-to-day liaison between the client, onsite contractors, and AMG’s engineering and design team.
• Collaborate with AMG’s mechanical, electrical, structural, and other engineering disciplines to coordinate design deliverables and resolve technical questions.
• Review and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, piping layouts, equipment arrangements, specifications, and other construction documents.
• Apply practical knowledge of industrial equipment, process piping, plant infrastructure, and construction methods to evaluate project requirements and identify potential issues.
• Identify discrepancies between design documents and existing field conditions and coordinate resolution with the appropriate engineering personnel.
• Support field verification and construction progress reviews to confirm work aligns with approved project requirements and applicable standards.
