Job summary

Heidelberg Materials seeks a Plant Accountant to drive financial and operational performance at its Leeds cement facility in Alabama. The role covers plant accounting, cost analysis, inventory, budgeting and forecasting while partnering with plant operations.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree and at least five years in accounting/finance in a manufacturing environment, with ERP (SAP) proficiency and strong Excel skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant accounting or finance experience; manufacturing experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of cost accounting, budgeting, inventory, internal controls and financial reporting.
• ERP experience; SAP experience preferred.
• Proficiency with Excel and strong analytical/problem-solving skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively with Plant Management, Operations and Corporate teams.

Responsibilities

• Perform month-end close, including journal entries, accruals, reconciliations and P&L review.
• Analyze manufacturing costs and variances across raw materials, fuel, power, maintenance, labor and overhead.
• Manage inventory accounting, reconciliations, physical inventories and adjustments.
• Support fixed assets and CAPEX accounting, including project spending and asset verifications.
• Assist in budgeting and forecasting, comparing actuals to plan.
• Collaborate with Plant Management to identify cost savings and improvement opportunities.
• Maintain internal controls and support audits; ensure accurate reporting.
