Job summary

Lonza is seeking an Automation – OT Engineer to deliver technical leadership and hands-on support for Walkersville, MD OT systems. You will ensure OT infrastructure integrity, cybersecurity, and regulatory readiness across EMS, BAS, PCS, MES/EBR, and LIMS in a regulated manufacturing environment.

The role requires experience with DCS/PLC platforms, a strong understanding of GMP and 21 CFR Part 11, and collaboration with IT, engineering, and vendors.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, information systems, or related field, with 5+ years in OT or industrial automation in regulated settings.
• Proficient in DeltaV, Rockwell FactoryTalk, Siemens, Allen Bradley, MODA-ES.
• Experience with SCADA, PLC, HMI, DCS, MES/EBR, EMS, BAS systems and industrial protocols.
• Experience managing automation projects across design, procurement, construction, validation, and operations.
• Familiar with 21 CFR Part 11, Annex 11, GMP, GAMP, IEC 62443, and NIST guidelines.
• Strong documentation, collaboration, and troubleshooting skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support site-based automation and OT systems to ensure reliability and regulatory compliance.
• Administer OT networks including VLANs, servers, storage, and endpoints.
• Configure and support DCS/PLC platforms (DeltaV, Siemens, Allen-Bradley).
• Troubleshoot complex OT issues across hardware, control logic, and networking.
• Ensure 21 CFR Part 11, Annex 11, and GMP compliance for OT infrastructure.
• Support cybersecurity initiatives and disaster recovery planning.
• Manage OT system administration tasks including backups, patches, and user management.
• Serve as SME during audits, inspections and regulatory engagements.
