Job summary

Qualifications

  • Education: High School/GED; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • OA1: 0-2 years ophthalmic assistant experience.
  • OAII: 2+ years ophthalmic assistant experience.

Responsibilities

  • Reviews patient charts for completeness and accuracy.
  • Takes ocular and systemic history and records visual acuity.
  • Performs tests (OCT, automated fields, photography, pachymetry, biometry).
  • Performs lensometry, automated refractometry, slit lamp exams with tonometry.
  • Acts as scribe and enters data into EMR; administers medications.
  • Maintains exam room cleanliness and ensures informed consent.
  • Supports patient education and manages patient flow.
