Job summary

UChicago Medicine in Chicago, IL, seeks a Patient Case Specialist for the Patient Access Services department. This 100% onsite role supports pre-admission, admission, verification, pre-certification, financials, and ADT activities to ensure smooth patient flow.

You will analyze patient financial data, determine payor requirements, document activity, capture demographics and insurance details, and discuss liability to secure payment. Night shift; full-time onsite.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and/or 3+ years of relevant experience.
• Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
• Ability to interact with diverse internal and external customers with tact and courtesy.
• Strong mathematical skills to calculate patient liability.

Responsibilities

• Performs all pre-admission, admission, verification, pre-certification, financial, reception, expiration desk and ADT functions.
• Analyzes patient's financial data thoroughly.
• Determines third-party payor requirements to secure inpatient reimbursement.
• Documents all account activity to ensure proper billing.
• Captures complete patient demographics and insurance information for admissions.
• Discusses patient liability to secure payment.
• Cross-trains to all Admission Services functions.
• Performs other duties as requested by senior management.
