Job summary

UChicago Medicine in Illinois is seeking a Patient Case Specialist for the Patient Access Services department. This 100% onsite role will perform pre-admission, admission, verification, pre-certification, financial, reception, expiration desk and ADT functions.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree or 3+ years of relevant experience, strong communication and numerical skills, and the ability to interact with diverse internal and external customers with tact and courtesy.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and/or 3+ years of relevant experience.
• Good communication skills verbal and written.
• Ability to interact effectively with a variety of internal and external customers with tact and courtesy.
• Strong mathematical skills to calculate patient liability.

Responsibilities

• Performs thorough analysis of patient's financial data.
• Determines and meets third-party payor requirements to secure reimbursement.
• Documents all account activity to ensure proper billing.
• Captures complete patient demographic and insurance information for inpatient admissions.
• Determines patient liability and discusses with patient to secure payment.
• Cross-trains to all Admission Services functions.
• Performs other duties as requested by senior management.
