Job summary

VIAVI Solutions is seeking a highly skilled Resident Engineer to deliver on-site technical support for our customers, ensuring optimal use of Viavi network testing and monitoring solutions.

You will act as the technical focal point at the customer site, troubleshoot complex issues, deploy and maintain Viavi hardware and software, and share knowledge through training and reports. The role requires strong networking expertise, excellent communication, and willingness to travel occasionally.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Telecommunications, or related field.
• 5+ years of experience in network engineering, operations, or technical support.
• Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, MPLS, BGP, OSPF and network architectures.
• Hands-on experience with Viavi tools (Observer, ONMS, Fusion, CellAdvisor) preferred.
• CCNA/CCNP/JNCIS/JNCIP certifications are a plus.
• Willingness to travel occasionally.

Responsibilities

• Acts as the primary technical contact for Viavi products at the customer site.
• Provide proactive and reactive support including troubleshooting and fault isolation.
• Collaborate with customer teams to understand network architecture and needs.
• Assist deployment, configuration, integration, and ongoing maintenance of Viavi solutions.
• Conduct training sessions and knowledge transfer for Viavi products.
• Generate reports on system performance and utilization with actionable insights.
• Participate in planning meetings and advise on network evolution and roadmaps.
• Escalate complex issues to engineering and product teams as liaison.
• Ensure customer satisfaction by delivering timely, high-quality support.
• Adhere to security and operational policies of Viavi and the customer.
