Job summary

Sherpa 6 is seeking a Network Engineer to design, implement, and sustain secure network infrastructure supporting OT and tactical systems. You will work onsite in Ashburn, VA, collaborating with engineers, cybersecurity, and government stakeholders to ensure reliable end-to-end communications across lab, cloud, edge, and field environments.

The role requires hands-on configuration of routers, switches, firewalls, VPNs, and PKI-based connectivity, plus field support and travel up to 25%.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in IT or related field.
5+ years of experience in network engineering, OT networking, or a related field.
Experience configuring and troubleshooting routers, switches, firewalls, VPNs, wireless networks, and VPN technologies.
Strong knowledge of TCP/IP networking, IPv4/IPv6, subnetting, VLANs, routing, NAT, DNS, DHCP, VPN, and network segmentation.
Ability to work full-time onsite during an 8-hour day shift and support fielding travel up to 25%

Responsibilities

Design, configure, implement, test, troubleshoot, optimize, and document network solutions for OT and tactical systems.
Configure and support routers, switches, firewalls, VPN gateways, wireless infrastructure, and related services in lab and operational environments.
Provide onsite or remote network support during installation, activation, testing, and transition to operations.
Coordinate with systems integrators, cybersecurity, and government stakeholders to implement approved network solutions.
Maintain network diagrams, IP address plans, and implementation documentation.
Ensure secure network segmentation and certificate-based connectivity where required.
