Job summary

Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a VPN/Firewall Engineer to support the U.S. Navy. This role is 100% onsite in Norfolk, VA; Pearl Harbor, HI; San Diego, CA; Washington Navy Yard, DC; or Pensacola, FL.

The engineer will focus on enterprise firewall, VPN, DMZ, and network security engineering, operations, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement. A Secret clearance and IAT Level III are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, CS, IT or related field.
• 8–12+ years of enterprise network engineering experience.
• Active Secret security clearance.
• IAT Level III certification (CCNP Security, CISSP or CASP+).
• Cisco/Juniper/Palo Alto or F5 Networks certifications.
• Extensive experience with firewalls, VPNs, DMZs, routing, switching, MPLS, BGP, OSPF.
• Knowledge of network security principles and IaC/automation.

Responsibilities

• Provide Tier III network engineering & SME support for firewall, VPN, DMZ, routing & switching.
• Design, configure, maintain, troubleshoot enterprise security appliances and Cisco/Juniper infra.
• Collaborate with ops, NOC, release teams to upgrade networks and improve performance.
• Develop engineering implementation plans, SOPs, and automation solutions.
• Support incident management including root cause analysis and on-call rotations.
