Job summary

The Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory (PPPL) seeks a Motor-Generator Maintenance Engineer to oversee maintenance, testing and operation of large MG sets and related systems at our onsite facility in New Jersey. The role requires a BS in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (MS preferred) and a minimum of seven years of relevant experience.

Qualifications

• BS Electrical or Mechanical Engineering required; MS preferred.
• Minimum 7 years of relevant experience.
• Experience with maintenance, testing and operation of rotating machinery for power plants and cycloconverter drives.
• Desirable experience with switchgear, circuit breakers, transformers and protective relaying.

Responsibilities

• Plans and implements routine maintenance, testing and repair of MG systems (60%).
• Directs troubleshooting on MG systems (10%).
• Obtains and maintains qualification as an operator of the motor-generator system (10%).
• Performs pre-operational performance checks for readiness (10%).
• Provides recommendations for improvements and upgrades (5%).
• Acts as PTR for maintenance tasks involving external contractors (5%).
