The Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory in Princeton, NJ is seeking an experienced Motor-Generator Engineer to maintain and operate large MG sets powering NSTX-U experiments. This onsite role focuses on preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and performance checks of electrical and mechanical systems, with safety and compliance a priority.

Qualifications

  • Technical writing ability for the preparation and review of technical procedures.
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations including lockout/tagout.
  • Good interpersonal skills for interacting within a team of engineers and technicians.

Responsibilities

  • Plans and implements routine maintenance, testing and repair activities for the MG systems.
  • Directs and performs troubleshooting, as required, on the MG systems.
  • Obtains and maintains qualification as an operator of the motor-generator system.
  • Performs pre-operational performance checks of the MG systems to ensure readiness for operations.
  • Provides recommendations for improvements and upgrades to the system.
  • Acts as PTR (Princeton Technical Representative) for Motor-Generator maintenance and repair tasks involving external contractors.
