Job summary

Collins Aerospace is seeking a Test Equipment Mechanical Engineering Co-op in Rockford, IL for a full-time, Mon–Fri program running May/June through December. You will document fluid schematics, support test equipment development for MPC power generation and distribution, and collaborate with cross-functional teams.

This paid co-op offers hands-on design, project estimation, and budget tracking, with opportunities to learn fluid dynamics, equipment design, and a range of engineering roles.

Qualifications

• Must be pursuing Bachelor’s or Advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering and actively enrolled through the completion of the internship/co-op session.
• Must have a minimum of 45 hours of credit by the start of the internship / co-op session.
• Experience or coursework in mechanical engineering concepts.

Responsibilities

• Document fluid schematics and specifications to construct, relocate, and install test stands and facilities infrastructure.
• Contribute to teams designing mechanical test equipment for MPC power generation, transmission, and distribution products.
• Participate in peer reviews of specifications, designs, and concepts for test equipment and systems.
• Track orders, costs, and due dates to update budgets and spending profiles.
• Conduct/coordinate project status reviews with team and stakeholders.
• Work independently and as part of a cross-functional engineering team to meet budget and quality targets.
• Support test equipment estimation activities including costs and schedules.
• Develop and document performance, design, calibration, and maintenance requirements for test stands.
