Job summary

iWorld Professionals is seeking a Materials Engineer for our client, a growing manufacturing company in Rochester NY. This onsite position focuses on improving material performance and supporting product development for aerospace and automotive applications.

The ideal candidate will have a degree in Engineering or Materials Science, at least 5 years of metallurgical lab experience, and strong skills in metallurgy, thermal processing, and failure analysis.

Qualifications

• A degree in Engineering, Materials Science, or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in manufacturing and metallurgical laboratory operations.
• Strong foundation in metallurgy, materials performance, thermal processing, and failure analysis.
• Ability to interpret technical specifications and translate findings into manufacturing solutions.
• Excellent communication and collaboration across engineering, production, and quality teams.

Responsibilities

• Recommend metals, materials, and thermal-processing methods meeting requirements.
• Develop material and process standards.
• Establish specifications for materials selection, heat treatment, corrosion resistance, wear, plating, coatings.
• Provide technical guidance for machining and heat-treatment operations.
• Train heat-treatment operators.
• Perform sample preparation and testing.
• Investigate failures and recommend corrective actions.
• Coordinate outside testing to verify specifications.
• Identify opportunities to improve processes, equipment, and lab capabilities; develop lab tech roadmap.
• Support quality and compliance with updates to engineering leadership.
